What is Post-Pay, and how does it work?

Post-Pay allows subscribers to continue assigning training after all seats have been used without the need to "top up" by upgrading continually.

Before You Begin

Post-Pay is a flexible billing workflow that allows eligible organizations to continue assigning training after using all purchased seats. Overage seats are prorated based on actual seat usage and activation timing during the subscription term.

Important – Prorating applies ONLY to seat‑based subscriptions.

Post-Pay with prorated billing is not available for pay‑per‑course plans. If you are on a pay‑per‑course model, overages will be billed at the time of assignment without proration. Contact

Eligibility & Default Settings

Post-Pay (in any form) is only available for accounts with a valid credit card on file. If no valid credit card is on file, the Post-Pay setting is automatically disabled and unavailable in Billing Settings until a valid payment method is added.

  • For organizations with 100+ seats (seat‑based plans — Core and Ultimate): Post-Pay is enabled by default (provided a valid credit card is on file). Prorating applies. Customers may opt out in Billing Settings.
  • For organizations with fewer than 100 seats (seat‑based plans — Core and Ultimate): Customers may manually enable/disable Post-Pay in Billing Settings. Prorating applies.
  • For Pay-Per-Course plans: Post‑Pay may be available, but prorated billing is not supported. Overage courses are billed at the time of assignment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Post-Pay?

Post-Pay allows eligible organizations to activate seats (or courses) during the subscription term.

  • For seat‑based plans: Billing is prorated based on when seats are added.
  • For pay‑per‑course plans: Prorating is not available – overages are billed at full price at the time of assignment.

Does Post-Pay always include prorated billing?

No. Prorated billing is only available for seat‑based subscriptions. Pay‑per‑course plans do not receive proration under Post‑Pay.

How are overage charges calculated for seat-based plans?

Post-Pay seats are prorated based on activation timing during the subscription term.

At the end of each month, any seats used beyond the subscription are totaled, rounded up to the nearest multiple of 5, and charged at the prorated per‑seat rate on the first of the next month.

What is an example of how Post Pay works for seat based plans?

You have 100 seats on an annual plan. Halfway through the year, you add 12 extra seats. You’re charged for 15 seats (12 rounded up) at 50% of the annual seat price. Your subscription increases to 115 seats.

How are overage charges calculated for Pay-Per-Course plans?

If you are on a pay‑per‑course plan and enable Post‑Pay, any additional course assignments beyond your purchased limit will be billed immediately at the full per‑course rate.

What is an example of how Post-Pay works for Pay-Per-Course plans?

If you have 100 seats and use 12 extra seats in August, you'll be charged for 15 seats (12 rounded up) in September. Your subscription will increase to 115 seats, leaving 3 seats available for immediate use.

How do I enable Post-Pay?

It's auto-enabled for accounts with 100+ seats and a valid card. Post-Pay can be enabled automatically from Settings > Billing by sliding “Auto Purchase” ON.

Can I disable Post-Pay?

Yes. Navigate to Settings > Billing and slide the “Auto Purchase” OFF. You can then manually upgrade the seat count in increments of 5 from Settings > Billing.
