Understanding Column Behavior
Data sources
- Most columns pull from learner profile data (manual entry, file upload, or HRIS sync)
- Some columns (Progress, Status) are calculated based on training activity
- Manager data requires managers to exist as learners in the system
Sorting and filtering
After customizing columns, you can:
- Click column headers to sort by that field
- Use filters to narrow displayed learners
- Export the current view to CSV (exports all data, regardless of displayed columns)
Helpful Tips
Be sure to apply changes
Selecting columns doesn't save until you click "Apply" at the bottom of the pop-up.
Column changes only affect you
Column customization is per-user only. Other admins see their own personalized views.
Use column selection with filtering
Columns control which fields display, not which learners appear. Use Filters to limit displayed learners.
What's Next?
- Use filters to narrow learner lists
- Export learner data for external reporting
- Bulk edit learner information
Quick Questions
Can I save multiple column views?
Not currently. You have one personalized view that you can change anytime. Use filters to quickly adjust what you see within that view.
Why can't I remove the Name and Trainings columns?
These are required identifiers for all learners. Every admin view must include them.
Will my column choices affect exported reports?
No. Exports include all available data columns, regardless of which columns you have displayed. Your view only affects on-screen display.
Llama Fact: Llamas have excellent peripheral vision and can focus on what matters most—similar to how customizing your columns lets you focus on the learner data that matters most to you!
